Why determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure, it’s a probably well-known fact that starting a new adventure can be very daunting and it’s a scarily thought. However, determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure and you can achieve anything you want to do in your life. Remember, even with all these rather unpalatable thoughts and beliefs, it’s also true that anyone can overcome any fears and achieve a lot in life.
It’s a well-known fact that Determination and persistence is also among the things or paths required to be successful in any adventure you decide to undertake. Remember it’s always people’s nature to try and discourage you and sometimes even those very close to you can be some of the delaying aspects to your achievements. However, with focus and determination on your idea/dream you’re planning to undertake and with continued action on what you are doing you will eventually succeed.
Why determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure, any new adventure is a big challenge, however, with persistence you will accomplish your dream. There are so many ways you can achieve your goals. Don’t despair or be discouraged by any obstacles such as fear, friends, etc. that is a challenge you have to overcome. At the end of the day, it’s you alone who will be able to achieve your dream.
Take stock of yourself, sit down, listen, write down anything that comes into your mind, analyze and decide on the next stage or phase. Always remember, it will be your decision, no one else will be able to make any decision or determine what right for you to take action except yourself.
Make your decision by proper planning and prioritizing your ideas.
Someone may ask ok I have been very determined and persistence with whatever I have been doing but there are no positive results. How will I know if I am on the right path and just continue? Remember, this is a challenge that can be defeated clear focus on your purpose and with persistence.
When thinking of starting a new adventure or endeavour you will be faced with a lot of negativeness. However, some negative habits you would need to avoid:
- Watching too much TV
- Fear of taking steps towards change and vulnerability to open yourself and expose your true inner self, ideas and aspiration to others who may discourage you.
- Fear of not being successful or laughed at (failure
- Comparing yourself with other people – if so and so didn’t do it who am I?
- Lack of self-confidence/faith – that I can’t do it
- Fear of responsibility being a leader of yourself
- Lack of Power – mindset to belief that you can do anything you set your mind
Why determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure. The following is a story of one of my friends about what she did to start a new adventure and how she achieved her plans, though her spouse was so much against starting a business.
She had a young family, those days in her country in 80s anyone employed as a civil servant, NGOs or private organisations earning more than £350 per month was regarded as a leader as such they were not allowed to do any business which could generate any extra income such as starting a new adventure that would generate some extra income for the family. However, some people were following the government directive and others found some loopholes to bypass the government directive.
Life was ok with no other source of income, just earn your salary feed your family and nothing to save for the future and that was not enough for people with ambitions and forward planning, just to wait for the pay cheque at the end of the month. How would you prepare to educate your children, have your own house rather than staying in the government or organisation accommodation?
That type of life was rather troublesome to my friend especially with that ideology of making everyone stay without doing anything you would enjoy, love and exciting at the same time you would earn extra income. Just image in the event you are not able to work for a long period what would happen to your family?
After some time, with a lot of planning and determination she reached a decision that it would awesome and crucial to change their lifestyle, she tried talking to her husband that they should start a new adventure to keep some chicken. The project would be very useful to their family as it will generate extra income and also keep them busy over weekends.
The spouse didn’t agree or like that idea. He pointed out that, remember, we are leaders, the government does not allow us to have any extra income. She tried reasoning with her partner that keeping chicken would be helpful and advantageous to the family. With all the persistence talking to the partner, he didn’t agree to her proposals.
It was a big challenge to her, how could she raise money to start the business. She couldn’t save the money from her salary, she would need to buy the chicks, feeds and other costs until the chicken are ready to sell. Another challenge was building the chicken shed, where would she start?
Why determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure however, with determination, focus mind and persistence everything is possible. In order to have time to raise the funds, she took leave, instead of going away for holiday. She started a new adventure, every evening she would put freezer bags filled with water into the freezer for ice blocks.
At 11 am she would fill in a cooler box with some water, put sugar and mix with edible colour then put the ice. She would take the water to the building sites and sell to the labourers. The labourers loved the mixture. She continued doing it. After her holiday was over she continued to sell the water over the weekends. Eventually, she was able to raise enough money to buy some materials to build the chicken shed and to buy 100 chicks as a starting point.

Do not give up your dream, because determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure, one day she just brought home some building materials and asked the handyman to help to build the shed. The following weekend she bought 100 chicks and some chicken feeds.
Eventually, the spouse had to support her, she told him if anybody asks it’s my project and I am the one who would go to jail if it means going to prison because I am doing something for my family. That’s why determination and persistence can pave a path to a great adventure. It really paved the awesome and wonderful project for my friend.
For her that was a big challenge as she was disobeying the government directive and also disobeying her partner something in African culture is not supposed to be like that, when your husband says something you have to agree or say yes to anything even to crap!
Her determination and persistence, made her overcome the fear of taking steps towards change and vulnerability to open herself and expose her true inner self, ideas and aspiration to others who perhaps would have been discourage.
She also didn’t compare herself to other people such as neighbours who were not doing anything to say so and so are not doing it, so who am I to do this? And she didn’t fear the responsibilities of taking the lead or being a leader in running the business. Confidence also played a big part on her side she believed in herself that she could do it and in her mindset she believed that she could do anything she set her mind to.
That determination and persistence, was a challenge that can be compared to an eagle how he handles the challenges such as a crow. When someone is doing something some people will come and try to block you or discourage or annoy you so that you abandon whatever you are planning to do as it’s no point you won’t successes or so and so did this and that they failed.
However, remember what an eagle does when a crow pesters him while flying always coming behind and pestering sometimes just to annoy it or discourage. Though the eagle is much bigger than the crow, however, it cannot maneuver as fast. However, instead of getting upset and trying to fight the crow, it simply spreads out its seven-foot wingspan, catches the wind and rises higher and higher. So instead of being frustrated and annoyed you can do better just rise higher and higher.
Don’t wait, what are you waiting for? Remember no one can predict your future but you can plan. You cannot change what happened yesterday but, you can change your tomorrow.
