Retire with drive, how would you like to retire with drive? when you retire with drive, it’s an indication that you are ready to go into your second phase of life.
Hi – I’m Nelly Fungo-Nsemwa and, like so many others, after a long working career, retirement was a new word in my life.
Retire with Drive – How long should I Wait?
Retire with drive, how long should I wait to retire? After being employed by various international organisations for more than 40 years you should reach a stage when you should say how long will I continue to work or wait to retire and enjoy my precious time?
You reach a stage when you should decide to take your place that is retirement, move forward, and start doing something that will enjoy and change your life.
Retire with drive, My dream was to enjoy my retirement, would do a lot and have plenty. of time to enjoy with my family. However, has my dream been met? Too often our dreams remained enacted upon. I was able to look after my grandchildren, which I loved, but other aspects of my new life somehow failed to slot into place. Instead of enjoying my retirement to the full, I was becoming stressed.
I had very little certainty as to what was happening next. My head was full of all sorts of whys and hows. I had 101 questions going on. I didn’t have any set plans for my precious time.
Retire with Drive not Waiting In The Departure Lounge
Retire with drive not waiting in the departure lounge. It became apparent to me that, I could not act or realise the dreams of my passion, I was not that brave to act on my dreams. As my routine was just sleeping and watching the box etc, which in other words you can say I had placed my life in the departure lounge, as when you’re in the departure lounge the only thing you dream about is getting on the plane or train or whatever.
When you a retired person, it’s a different type of lounge. What do you think would have been my departure lounge? It’s an eternal departure lounge, would be to be put into the box and six feet under that’s what I was waiting for. No one should be in the departure lounge.
Retire with drive shouldn’t be facing uncertainties. A good question to my fellow retirees. Just ask yourself my fellow retired person, why should you place yourself in the departure lounge, while you can make use of your life? You need to wake up from your dream and live your life to the full.
Priorities
Retire with drive would be to prioritise my plans. I knew what the issue was. I didn’t have a structured life. I had failed to take action and prioritise my plans prior to my retirement or even after retirement, that’s to retire with drive.
Thinking about retirement, and dreaming of fantastic ways to fill my time was great, but where were the actual plans? I had no concrete knowledge of how to do any of these things. I had left that vital ingredient out of the mixture.
Retire with drive, would be to take immediate action. I knew I needed to take control of my life again, retire with a drive. Start living with a purpose. I hadn’t gone into retirement to spend my days watching soaps. And so I formed a plan and put it into action, starting an online business providing catering, servicing, and cooking classes based on simple African recipes – all from my comfort zone that is my own home. Since then, things have completely changed for me. My life is more exciting. As well as my business, I find time to help my community and enjoy quality time with my family and friends (except not during lockdown). I have also started a retiree group “Yesterday’s Young Adults” (YYA); we meet for late morning tea every fortnight on Fridays. Everyone in the group look forward to our Friday get-together. And yet at the same time I haven’t compromised time with the family I adore.
It seemed to me that my own experience could be used to help others, which is why I also set up Retire with Drive. I want others to make the most of their retirement by planning in advance or fulfilling their dreams. Whatever your age, the time to plan for your retirement is now. It’s all too easy for a person to think matters are in hand because they have pension provision or savings. But remember, in retirement money is not everything that will make you happy.
Don’t let fear of the unknown take over your life. Don’t let it be a determining factor in what you would like to achieve. Don’t let it stifle your dreams. You can achieve what you want and live the life you desire. Will discuss how to overcome fear in my next article.
Persistence, determination and patience works wonders – and so does a helping hand. Let me be the one to offer it with Retire With Drive.
